The Last Supper

O man, my last day in Paris was amazing. Throughout the whole day it was weird to think that it was actually my last day. I would forget and have to remind myself. My mom and I went shopping near my apartment. I live in district 4 and without even realizing it, we shopped all day and didn't even leave that district. There are 20 in Paris and it just amazes me that there was so much to do in just one. And we only hit a handful of the stores in district 4. I wanted to go shop on a cool street that I found the day before during my photo class. We went all around by the Pompidou museum too. There were so many vintage stores. Some were really smelly but still so fun to look in! I bought a pair of lavender rhinestones ball-ish dangle earrings at one. We walked past one store and I saw a cute dress in the window and I almost went in, but then saw that all of the pictures of the models were drag queens! We ate lunch at a cute little place and then went on to shop some more.
I will definitely miss the salads in Paris. That sounds so stupid because it's a salad, but they are delish. We stopped and got macaroons and they were good, not great. My mom even tried one! I of course got a lemon one.

I went back to my mom's hotel to grab a little suitcase she brought with her to use as my carry on so I could pack all of my heaviest items in there. On the way to Paris, my luggage was 49 pounds. And I bought a lot of things in Paris. So when she came I told her she had to bring an empty suitcase so we could get all my stuff home. I went back to my apartment and packed almost everything except my outfit for the plane and stuff like my toothbrush.

An hour or so went by and I met my mom again for dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant in Maddy and Nicole's neighborhood with Danielle, Maddy and her dad, and Nicole. I'm glad I got to say goodbye to Nicole because she was going to spend the evening with her family who live in France but was able to make it for a glass of wine before we ate. We got done eating in time to make it into this night club/ cult thing/ we don't know what called Clubhouse Paris. I remember on the 4th of July while power walking to the metro stop from the bar, I passed a wall I couldn't see over and a gate with a looong line of people standing outside and wondered what it was. Later, somehow Maddy brought up this cool place near their apartment called Clubhouse Paris that always has a ton of people waiting to go in and I put the pieces together. She had heard that some nights it was a restaurant, some nights they show movies, some are poetry nights. Just a hodge podge of the awesome things and instantly we all wanted to check it out. A few nights ago we decided to check it out and there was a bouncer at the gate who told us in French that there was a private party that night and to come back any other night. Well, Maddy and her dad went before we met at the Italian restaurant and got a brochure. There were pictures of voodoo stuff, bible versus were quoted, something was written about a museum. Everyone in the brochure were black so we knew it was someway tied to their politics/ culture stuff. I don't even know how to explain it. It was so cool! And did not match up with the image I had in my mind, which made me want to go even more. So we walked about 2 blocks from the restaurant and went through the mysterious gate I had seen several times before. There was a walkway of plants when we first walked in. It felt like we were in a movie. Then we got to the door of the building and walked in. It was like a thrift store on steroids. Everything on the walls, furniture, wall paper was mis matched and awesome! There were framed tshirts of what looked like their leaders? We waited in line to get a stamp and the guy was calling us baby and said to me, " O are you here to take me tonight" and I just kept walking after he stamped my wrist. And then he hit on my mom too.

This picture was one of their displays of the "museum". There was a bar and a lot of random tables and little displays of old TVs and lamps and framed pictures all over. We found a door that went outside to another jungle area where lots of people were drinking but as we were trying to check it out, they told us that it was closed for a private thing. Across from that door, there was a staircase that led upstairs to a place were even more random things were for sale. The man behind the counter said that they were closed because he was so tired and couldn't work anymore. We all just stood in the stair way for a few seconds and gave him looks that said "we are not leaving until we get to look around because we have waited forever for this place" and Maddy told him that it was our last night in Paris. So he let us in. Danielle bought a cool leather clutch. I was really glad someone found something since that guy almost didn't let us in. We went back downstairs and there was a table full of random jewelry and I knew I wanted to find something there. I bought a ring with a dark red stone (which could be plastic for all I know, but I don't care). And it is turning my finger green, like any good ring does. But I love it.

We left Clubhouse Paris and went to an Irish pub which was close, the same one from the 4th of July, and Maddy's dad bought us beer. It was nice to just casually drink and spend time with great people! But again, I kept forgetting that it was my last night which was really sad. Maddy's dad told me he liked reading my blog and wanted to be in it. So here you go Adam! Thank you for dinner and the drinks and have a great rest of your trip in Europe!

We all said goodbye at the metro stop. My mom and I caught our train to her hotel and right when I sat down, silent tears. My mom handed me a tissue and held my face in my hands and quietly cried on the metro. Not very Parisian. I went back to my apartment to finished packing and got ready to catch a taxi at 7 am to the airport.

I am home now in Idaho and even though my wonderful trip has come to an end, I still have a lot to write about that I don't want to forget! So I will continue posting about France and traveling until I have nothing more to say.

Bisous!
