Mama's in Paris

My mom is here! Yay! Today we had fun, I took her to some of my favorite parts of Paris. We first went to a street with lots of shopping, Rue de Rennes, which is really close to the university where I took French classes in June. I also showed her the university courtyard. We went to a NY bagel place that is so close to the school that I love and then walked a few blocks to the Luxembourg garden. It is one of my favorite parks in Paris and I went there all the time and ate lunch during June and also did my second painting there for class last week.

We then met up with Maddy and Nicole who were having a picnic at the Eiffel Tower. Classic. I got a lemon crepe and it was delicious. Covered in sugar and fresh lemon juice. We sat and talked for a while then went to a tourist shop and found locks for the Lock of Love bridge.

We walked around Notre Dame, another one of my favorites, and shopped around the corny tourist shops on the block. An Asian lady was rude and I bought a tshirt that says "J'ador Paris". I just had to.

It's funny to see my mom interact with people here. I think I have gotten used to dealing with lots of people and other tourists. We crossed the street once and as the cars stopped she waved. Totally acceptable at home and I always wave in the US, but here you wont find many people thanking the cars. And I get that everything is so exciting and it is hard not be so upbeat when in Paris! But my program even warned us when we first got here to just keep your eyes to yourself and not look like an over excited newbie. So I just gave her a friendly reminder. But she is doing great! I think just after 2 months of being here, I have gotten used to not doing stuff like that anymore, but I know I sure did my first day in Paris too!

On one of the many times we rode the metro today, everyone on the train was almost silent and then a man started talking very loudly to the whole train in French. That happens all the time so it doesn't bother me any more. But my moms eyes just got huge and she looked at me in a panic. I told her he was harmless. He was just selling fans.

I woke up to a thunderstorm this morning! It has been so hot that we have to leave them open during the night. I sleep about a foot away from the window so it sounded like I was standing in the middle of it. It was a good way to start the day. I loved it.

Je suis tres fatigue. Bonne nuit!
