Yesterday we went to La Tour Eiffel. Lots and lots of Asians there. We will obviously go back I'm sure many times. It isn't far from the university. I'm say "we" like I'm crazy and hear voices, but I mean my friends and I, since I haven't gone anywhere in Paris alone yet. When I start my art classes in July I'm
sure I will be there often.
Omg selfie!
The apartment I'm staying at with my host family is right on the Seine and a few blocks away from Notre Dame. Yesterday, on the way back from a day of sight seeing and shopping, we got ice cream, (well, some got crêpes) and we sat on the side of the river and listened to the saxophone player on the bridge. And one at one point, he played Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Today was my first day of French class. We take a metro and walk about 4 blocks to the university every morning. My first class was from 9-12 and the next was 2-5. Yep, 6 hours of class every Tuesday and Thursday. Every other day it is just 9-12. Obviously in the begginer class. The professors are French and only speak French in class. They litterally shush you if you speak in English out loud. It's kind of frustrating, but very hands on and makes me pay attention. I wouldn't have it any other way! The professor for the first half looks like a toothpick version of Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl. Also dresses just like Chuck. Very attractive. The class has about 15 students from all over the world, but majority are American. I was embarrassed to be from the same country as a few of them by how they acted today. So loud and disrespectful in class. The professor asked me where in the US I was from. I told him and he said "Iowa? Oklahoma?" No no, so I drew him a small map and included Canada. Then he understood. The second part had a much smaller class with people who were also in part one. And I was the only American, but that's ok because we don't speak any English in class. But I think they know some English.
This is a picture of a delish strawberry and cheesecake pastry I grabbed for a snack after class before meeting our whole program group for a boat tour on the Seine. There were so many Asians on the open level of the boat. They were in everyone else's pictures. And for dinner tonight we had cantaloupe, seafood spaghetti, and strawberries and cream. I ate every bit of my spaghetti that had shrimp, tiny octopus, and a mystery sea animal, and even got seconds. I didn't want to be rude and it tasted alright, plus I was hungry!
À demain!
